The Golden Compass

I have been trying to figure out whether I want to see this movie or not and I already know that I do because I wanted to see it before I knew about all the controversy it has given to religions and aithiest.  I did not know anything about it relating to God until lately because I never read the books.  I have heard both sides of Christian cons and pros.  We are fighting each other.  At first I thought that there was no way I could support this. But then I think how it could be a great tool for witnessing. I am standing on solid ground and I believe, if I see it, it will not affect me. However I will have more insight on this world view to be able to discuss with others. What better way to help me dig in my Bible more!   I guess I see it more as a challenge.  I am not saying that children should or should not go see this movie. That is strictly the parents choice.  So i started researching as best that I know how on the internet and found a really good book called Shedding Light on His Dark Materials.  Two Christian authors have actually made it easier to understand Pullman's material and that actually ends up being the opposite of what he wanted.  He basically helps prove the existance of God.  I have not read it but looks helpful. So yes, I do want to see it. I will admit it.  The only thing that is really holding me back is the oppression of others. not God!  This movie is going to be a big hit no matter what.  So why not turn it around to be a great tool for Christians.

Thanks for listening,

Dru

What next?

Life is grand.

Change is sad but good. I went from living with 5 girls in the middle of starkville to one man in the boondox of west point. Big change. I love being married though! if i didnt live with cassidy i would probably never see him. I like having my own home. Im not used to the toilet seat thing yet. I have probably fallen in twice! But i do miss not having one of my girls just around the corner to talk to. but now it makes it more exciting to see them!

My wedding was absolutely amazing! i couldnt have asked for a better bridal party. Every minute of it was fun and emotional. the wedding ceremony went as planned too. well except for the fact the my preacher who did the welcome in the beginning decided to make sure that everyone new exactly where the bathrooms and exits were. Are you kidding me? like someone is going to get up during my wedding. so that was kinda embarrasing, but i guess he needed to add a little color to the ceremony.

Right after my wedding i was pretty much gone for 3 weeks. Our honeymoon was also partly a mission trip to mexico with our college and career group but it was awesome! Then shortly after we got back we headed to West Palm Beach, Florida for M-fuge. It was awesome. At these camps they always seperate the church groups into different tracks and for some odd reason God put Cassidy and I in the same group. I guess it was his gift for the newlyweds. ha!

To sum the summer up: the wedding was BEAUTIFUL and perfect! The Grand Canyon was Grand! I want to move to Arizona! Mexico needs love! and Florida is extremely hot!

Love, Dru

P.S. props to my old roomies who still do xanga! Heather, Anna, Lynlee, and even Robbie. (you know your a roomate ;)

Can it BE?

4 weeks ladies and gentle man.... 4 WEEKS! well actually it was  really 4 weeks yesterday now its 29 days. im ready for it. The only thing stopping me from enjoying this last month of engagement is decoration.  Nothing seems to be going how they were planned originally. but you know i dont care i just want to get the day over with and be married.  I want to just focus on Cassidy the whole day and not all the stupid traditions.  Like Scott says, as long as it doesnt confict with the Bible then its okay.  But i understand the fun in it all. It has been great fun. And im glad i had a year not necessarily to plan a wedding but to prepare myself in being the godly wife i am called to be. Life is going to be different and im excited about my new life with Cassidy. 4 weeks Baby!

Girls, girls, girls

So the past two weekends i have spent mauch time with my faithful girlfriends and realized that i would not be the person i am today if it werent for them.

1st trip-Beth Moore-Louisianna

-women's bladders should be on the same schedule. we probably stopped about 8 times on the way up there then about 5 on the way back. i know im guilty.

-Ashley-"Dru, loop us around."    Dru- "Did you just say lupus?" everyone shocked..... then laughter.

- we only got lost once! and i knew what i was doing i promise!

-Dru-"They are chasing a beaver or something down the river."   Mrs. Rene-" John, the dogs are chasing the beaver again."  Dru- "No, i mean my friends are chasing it."

2nd trip-College Girl Retreat-West Point

What happens when there is ten girls and one mouse in a house. The results....

-All feet automatically fly up and land on a couch or chair.

-Dru apologizes over and over again.

-Christine grabs two cups to catch it.

Lynlee picks up a mouse trap and chases it down the hall

-and of course Meagan screams.

-and no one sleeps on the floor that night.

you 4 real?

I felt like this conversation was worthy enough to be recorded on xanga....

Dru's employer Mrs. Betty-"Dru, where are you going on your honeymoon?"

Dru-" The Grand Canyon!"

Mrs. Betty-"Oh, how nice! Is that a cruise?"

(Dru in disbelief) " Um no mam, it is actually in Arizona around the desert and mountains. It's a canyon."

Mrs. Betty- " oh, well that will be fun!"

Gotta love her....
